Our Tennessee Mental Health Treatment center restores hope and healing from this emotional burden. We know the thought of treatment sounds daunting. Intrusive and paralyzing symptoms only get worse if they’re not addressed. Now is the time to reclaim your life from the tangles of anxiety.

Anxiety is a feeling. It’s also much more than that. TRUE’s vision is now our mission. We combine years of experience to deliver results-driven mental health care. TRUE is pumping fresh air into mental health services that cater to the individual.

Why is Anxiety Treatment Important?

There’s no short supply of drug rehabs in Tennessee to get better from substance abuse. What about mental health challenges?  Our outpatient programs fill that gap. We’ve perfected our programs so they’re customizable in every way.

We utilize our in-depth knowledge and passion for long-term mental health solutions. Anxiety is complicated and widespread. We welcome each individual who wants help.

Generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) affects 6.8 million adults in the U.S. Only 43.2% are receiving treatment. This is one form of widespread disorder that comes in. Anxiety disorders are twice as likely to develop in women. About 31.9% of young adults (under 18 years old) have had any anxiety disorder.

The symptoms won’t improve without treating the whole of you. If these aren’t treated, mental and physical health issues can arise. It can also cause an individual to use drugs or alcohol to cope. 42.8% of people deal with anxiety disorder and substance use disorder (SUD) over their life.

It’s not uncommon to have co-occurring disorders. 61.2% of individuals with GAD also endure a major depressive disorder. Mental health challenges such as bipolar disorder and attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) make treating the whole of you crucial for recovery.

Anxiety and Substance Use

Anxiety causes very strong feelings and emotions. The feelings are never pleasant. These unwanted feelings can make it tempting to turn to drugs or alcohol for relief. It doesn’t matter if it’s prescription pills, alcohol, or drugs. Some people use these substances to try to manage anxiety. A quick fix can turn into a rapid addiction. TRUE has your lasting solution.

Statistics on Treatment

Anxiety disorders are not unfamiliar throughout the world. But not everyone who needs care receives it. Stats on anxiety treatment show that around one-third of individuals with the disorder receive treatment.

Don’t despair. A variety of treatments for anxiety disorders await. These treatments may involve taking FDA-approved medications, therapy, counseling, or a combination. Individuals with anxiety disorders can benefit from cognitive behavioral therapy. This gold-standard therapy trades irrational thoughts and fears with proactive and grounded thoughts.

Anxiety and Age

Age plays a factor in this disorder. It shows up more in certain age groups. For adolescents, anxiety impacts 31.9% of ages 13 and 18 years old. In adults, it shows up in 22.3% of ages 18–29 and 22.7%  ages 30–44.

The prevalence of anxiety disorders lowers to 20.6% in the age group of 45–59 years old. Anxiety in older adults is a lot less common on average. Only 9% of mature adults ages 60 years or older have the disorder.

The overwhelming disorder sends waves to interfere with all aspects of living. Rituals and repetitive behaviors that command your full attention. Analyzation paralyzation strikes without hesitation. Thoughts that will not quiet.

Anxiety impacts your education and job performance – your relationships – your total health – and much more. We craft our comprehensive program elements to your unique story. This brings top-of-the-line modalities together. You don’t have to sit on the sidelines of life any longer.

What’s the Difference? Anxiety Attack vs. Panic Attack

Panic attacks and anxiety attacks can sound like the same experience. They share similar traits, but they also have defining differences. Anxiety is a feeling of consuming uncertainty, worry or tension. It can linger for a while once it arrives. The physical effects include rapid heartbeat, sweats, and feeling restless.

Panic attacks do not have the same endurance. They happen fast and strike with intense bouts of distress and doom. These attacks have specific fear-based symptoms. They usually only last for a short time before subsiding.

Here are the main ways anxiety and panic attacks are different:

  • The length of the attack. Anxiety symptoms can stick around for weeks, months, or even years. Panic attacks are brief and usually last no more than 20-30 minutes.
  • The level of intensity. Anxiety is a milder feeling of worry that lingers. Panic attacks are very strong and overwhelming. Panic attacks can be very distressing.
  • The triggers arrive at different speeds. Panic attacks don’t give a warning. They can happen at the drop of a hat. Certain events can trigger them.
  • Both display outward symptoms, but panic attacks show more physical signs that are easy to spot.

Behavioral (Talk) Therapy

Talk therapy is essential at our anxiety treatment center. It’s never “one-size-fits-all” for such a personal matter. You collaborate with your care team on your specific treatment plan of action.

Our in-house staff includes trauma specialists and peer support specialists. Individual therapy, plus group therapy sessions, is part of therapy.

Cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) is the best therapy for anxiety disorders. DBT identifies unhealthy thought patterns and gains insight into your actions. It gives you the skills to face activities anxiety makes you avoid.

Exposure therapy is a form of CBT with a process for reducing fear and anxiety reactions. You’re exposed over time to the feared situation or object behind this phobia. You learn to become less sensitive over time. This therapy is particularly beneficial for OCD and phobias.

Dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) helps emotional regulation. It emphasizes personal responsibility for your problems. Mindfulness and distress tolerance are explored alongside emotional regulation.

Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) blends mindfulness and acceptance strategies. ACT is about preventing risky decisions by helping develop mental and emotional flexibility.

Rational emotive behavior therapy (REBT) guides you to understand unwanted thoughts. This lowers negative feelings and behaviors. REBT focuses on the present moment and what you are feeling.

EMDR Therapy

Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing is an innovative therapy. EMDR utilizes sensory stimulations like eye movement to address past trauma.

Motivational Speakers

Motivational speakers share inspiration, guidance, and support. These are members of the community in Nashville and throughout Tennessee. These real stories give perspective and motivation. This complements our refined set of interventions.

Types of Anxiety Disorders We Treat

Anxiety wears many faces. There are several different types with their characteristics. Each one has distinct symptoms and markers. The healthcare industry standard uses the DSM-5.

The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders lists the specific types as:

  • Generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) is a worry cycle. You have an ongoing, excessive unease when nothing is wrong. Anything can trigger this repetitive thinking.
  • Panic disorder affects 6.8 million adults in the U.S. (3.1%). It’s known for sudden and intense feelings of terror. It displays physical symptoms like a racing heartbeat, sweating, and shortness of breath.
  • Social anxiety disorder affects 15 million adults (7.1%) of our population. It’s a persistent fear of social situations. An innate fear of judgment or scrutiny by others controls you. This makes you stay away from social situations and going out, period.
  • Specific phobias are the reality for 9.1% or 19.3 million U.S. adults. It’s characterized by an irrational fear that doesn’t make sense to others. Circus clowns, flying in planes, or large dogs can trigger fear.
  • Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) affects  2.5 million or 1.2% of U.S. adults.  OCD is characterized by recurrent, unwanted thoughts or obsessions and repetitive behaviors or compulsions to reduce anxiety.
  • Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a problem in the U.S. for  7.7 million or 3.6% adults. The condition develops after experiencing or witnessing a traumatic event. This causes intrusive thoughts, flashbacks, and avoidance of triggers associated with the event.
